"Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney" Might Be Coming to Nintendo 3DS
We may have some decade-old investigating to do on Nintendo 3DS, especially if an update from the South Korea media ratings board is a reliable indicator. The board recently rated Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney for Nintendo 3DS, and a port would be nicely timed for the adventure game's 10th anniversary.
That is, of course, if it ends up on 3DS and if it ends up coming out before the end of the year. It didn't come out on Nintendo DS in the west until 2008, so there's still some time to get out your courtroom party hats for that occasion.

TV Anime "Full Metal Panic! Invisible Victory" Officially Postponed to Spring 2018
The official website for Full Metal Panic! Invisible Victory, the new TV anime adaption project based on of Shoji Gatoh's Full Metal Panic! light novel series, confirmed today that they have rescheduled its airing to the Spring of 2018. The fourth TV anime was originally set to premiere this fall when it was announced in October 2016, but the word "this fall" was deleted from the website by early April of this year.
The site explains the reason for the postponement as below:
"In addition to the original staff who have worked on the series since the first one, we have added new members and have sank our teeth into the production. However, Full Metal Panic! is the title that demands high level of capability and vitality not only from the new members, but also from the original ones. We have almost given up the project many times. At all such times, we worked our fingers
to the bone in order to deliver the best work we can to the fans. Then literally, we reached our limit. We
needed more time. We realize that we need to ask for more time to continue the production. As a result
of various discussions, we have decided to postpone the airing to the Spring of 2018."
The anime's offcial Twitter post:
"There will be many things we can announce in future, so it would be helpful if you can keep sending
us your opinions and requests. We appreciate your kind cooperation for Full Metal Panic! Invisible Victory."

Amuro Chows Down in "Mobile Suit Gundam" Curry Collaboration
Giant robots and curry are two great tastes that taste great together, or at least that's the logic behind a new promotional campaign that combines the classic Sunrise mecha series Mobile Suit Gundam with the Curry House CoCo Ichibanya restaurant chain.
The collaboration begins on July 14, 2017, and it features new artwork of Mobile Suit Gundam protagonist Amuro Ray stuffing his gob with delicious curry. An official campaign page featuring the phrase "Let's do the Campaign!" in Japanese and "Don't Miss It" in English has also been published.
Founded in 1979, Curry House CoCo Ichibanya is celebrating its 39th anniversary this year. The restaurant chain has over 1000 locations throughout Japan's 47 prefectures. The original Mobile Suit Gundam TV anime was also originally broadcast in 1979. Previously, Curry House CoCo Ichibanya has teamed up with other anime properties such as LUPIN THE 3rd and Dragon Ball Z.

Hero Week - Before "GaoGaiGar": The Yuusha Shows You've Yet to Meet
In 2017, the mecha anime fandom is fairly familiar with The King of Braves GaoGaiGar. The Sunrise series with a heroic theme by Masaaki Endoh, a shouty hero voiced by Nobuyuki Hiyama, and a cavalcade of transforming and combining robots is a favorite of fans of series like Gurren Lagann.
But GaoGaiGar isn't the king of braves for nothing.
Back in the 1990s, Takara was trying to recover from the eventual end of its Transformers line, enlisting the help of Sunrise designer Kunio Okawara to create designs for a new Transformers-ish franchise. The result was Sunrise's yuusha series, an annual offering of heroic kids, epic robots, and lots and lots of merchandise.
While the primary units tended to be new, some support or enemy robots were recognizably Transformers repaints. But as time went on, the franchise got popular enough that it became entirely its own creature -- until the late 90s, when one final series sent it out with a bang.
Are you ready to meet GaoGaiGar's fellow braves?
Brave Exkaiser - 1990
Schoolboy Kouta gets a nasty shock when he discovers that his family car can talk! Not only that, but it's apparently named Exkaiser, of the Space Police Kaisers. His team is hunting down the Geisters, a band of robot space pirates trying to plunder Earth. Brave Exkaiser ran 48 episodes.
Brave of the Sun Fighbird - 1991
Fighbird is, like Exkaiser before him, a space cop. But rather than hiding in a car, he possesses a transforming android built by Professor Amano. The professor's two grandchildren, Kenta and Haruka, become privy to Fighbird's secrets and help him pass for human under the name Yutaro Katori. While Fighbird is adept at fighting the evil Draias and his mad scientist lackey, he doesn't know much about Earth -- you may have seen his human form in an Internet meme asking if a butterfly is a pigeon.
The Brave Fighter of Legend Da-Garn - 1992
Seiji (voice by Pokémon star Rica Matsumoto) is entrusted with awakening the eight protectors of Earth, the leader of whom is a robot named Da-Garn. With him as their leader, the team protects Earth against the evil OhBoss. The only problem is, Seiji's dad is a high-ranking military official and his mom is a famous news reporter, so he has to operate undercover -- which he does by wearing a superhero costume and adopting the pseudonym Luke Skywalker. Yes, really.
The Brave Express Might Gaine - 1993
Nobuyuki Hiyama's first foray into the brave series saw him as Might Senpuuji, a 15-year-old billionaire and railroad magnate. While on the surface he's just a bright young businessman running a railway, it turns out the trains his father left him are sentient robots. Together with his team, Might fights to keep the city free of crime.
Brave Police J-Decker - 1994
The Japanese government has built a squad of transforming robots to handle the toughest crimes. (As you do.) But when their leader, Deckerd, comes in contact with fourth grader Yuuta Tomonaga, Deckerd gains a level of empathy the police force were previously unable to replicate. Yuuta is made "chief" of the Brave Police, and together, they fight crime. Some of the robots seem to get crushes on local women, too -- we're not entirely sure what that's about. But there's a soccer robot, so hey!
The Brave of Gold Goldran - 1995
One of the more lighthearted entries in the brave series, Goldran features three school friends -- Takuya, Kazuki, and Dai -- who stumble upon a slumbering robot named Goldran inside a Power Stone. Together, they attempt to awaken his other sleeping friends and find the robots' lost world of Legendra. Meanwhile, the villainous Walter Walzac alternates between hunting the other Power Stones for himself and avoiding his stalker fiancee Sharanla.
Brave Command Dagwon - 1996
Dagwon is an odd one out in the series for two reasons. For one, there's not a child protagonist: the heroes are all teenagers. For another, it's one of only two series in the franchise where the title robot is not a separate AI, but rather controlled by a human. The sentai-inspired series, about a group of aliens granting some teens with attitude (or rather, the only teens handy at the time) super powers, was popular enough with fans of bishonen that it got a two-episode OVA.
The King of Braves GaoGaiGar - 1997
And that brings us back to the King. Like Dagwon, the central robot was not an AI, but had a human core. But like the shows before it, children were integral to the story. GaoGaiGar pulled out all the stops, including CG animation, multiple storylines that explored the human element of the series, and clear references to all its inspirations. This last brave series was so popular it spawned the OVA GaoGaiGar FINAL, the shared-universe anime Betterman (and arguably Brigadoon), and a second take on the OVA, Grand Glorious Gathering.
Sadly, only GaoGaiGar is available legally in the US. But hopefully someday we'll have a chance to see all the heroes of Sunrise's yuusha franchise here across the ocean!

Professor Layton's Daughter Dreams of Adventure in New Trailer
A gentleman never turns down a puzzle... and neither does a lady! Layton's Mystery Journey follows Katrielle Layton, Herschel's ingenious daughter, as she takes up the family top hat and solves mysteries with the aid of her talking dog.
A second trailer has been released from Level 5, offering a listen to the new game's theme song -- "Girls" by Kana Nishino -- and a quick overview of the various stories in the game. The copy also promises the most puzzles in any Layton game's history, so you might want to get those little grey cells working.
Additionally, what appears to be a localized version of the first trailer has been released. Level 5 has made no statement on it, but it appears to be the real deal in terms of English-translated puzzles and dubbing.
Layton's Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaires' Conspiracy will be available worldwide on iOS/Android starting July 20, and on Nintendo 3DS this fall.

Charles de Gaulle and his Free French took advantage of these independent movements to help organize actions that would greatly aid the Allied landings at Normandy.

"Bungo Stray Dogs DEAD APPLE" Hits Theaters in Japan in 2018
A new preview video and a new key visual have been released for Bungo Stray Dogs DEAD APPLE, an upcoming theatrical anime film based on the superpowered action novels & manga written by Kafka Asagiri and illustrated by Sango Harukawa about rival groups of detectives and criminals who use their superhuman abilities to wage war for control of Yokohama.
The exact details of the plot of DEAD APPLE are sparse, but so far the film seems to be a compilation of the first two seasons of the Bungo Stray Dogs TV anime with an added emphasis on the rivalries between Atsushi Nakajima and Ryunosuke Akutagawa and between Osamu Dazai and Chuya Nakahara. Crunchyroll describes the plot of the Bungo Stray Dogs TV series as follows:
Kicked out of his orphanage and on the verge of starving to death, Nakajima Atsushi meets some strange men. One of them, Dazai Osamu, is a suicidal man attempting to drown himself in broad daylight. The other, bespectacled Kunikida Doppo, nervously stands by flipping through a notepad. Both are members of the "Armed Detective Agency" said to solve incidents that even the military and police won't touch. Atsushi ends up accompanying them on a mission to eliminate a man-eating tiger that's been terrorizing the population...
The main cast and staff of the Bungo Stray Dogs TV series are reprising their roles for the DEAD APPLE film, including director Takuya Igarashi, screenwriter Yōji Enokido, character designer / chief animation director Nobuhiro Arai, and animation production studio BONES. Bungo Stray Dogs DEAD APPLE will be released in theaters in Japan in 2018.
