Plus, an esteemed LA chef will collaborate with Shake Shack — and more intel
A Bob’s Burgers burger pop-up
Two food carts themed after Fox show Bob’s Burgers are planting themselves outside Javits Center as part of New York Comic Con — slinging burgers inspired by the popular animated series. Created with acclaimed chef Alvin Cailan of the Usual and LA restaurant Eggslut, the burgers include the “Team Bob,” made with blended confit carrots, pickled carrots, jack cheese, mayo, and greens on a potato bun, and the “Team Louise,” made with dill-infused mayo, dill pickles, American cheese, and sour cream and onion chips on a potato bun. They will be there from October 4th through October 7th from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., part of a collaboration between condiment company Sir Kensington’s and 20th Century Fox Consumer Products. Cailan has previously done a burger pop-up based on the show; the iteration last December drew crazy lines the entire week, and only those prepared to spend an hour waiting could get one.
Shake Shack teams up with notable LA chef
Chef Ludo Lefebvre of renowned LA restaurants Trois Mec, Petit Trois, and Trois Familia will collaborate with Shake Shack next week, offering two one-day only items at the Madison Square Park location of the burger and shake joint. On October 9, Shake Shack will sling the “Ludo Shack,” a reimagining of Lefebvre’s “Big Mec burger” served at Petit Trois. It will be a double cheeseburger topped with foie gras bordelaise, priced at $10.99. There will also be the “salted caramel wakame shake,” which is just Shake Shack’s regular salted caramel shake but with wakame edible seaweed added. The shake will cost $5.29.
Critic dabbles in CBD
CBD has been all over menus in NYC this summer, and it was only a matter of time before the Post critic Steve Cuozzo skeptically eyed the trend. Cuozzo visited Adriaen Block, the new restaurant in Astoria dedicated to CBD-infused drinks and food. It’s served in cocktails, sauces for the American small plates and grilled entrees, and whipped cream for the desserts. While one customer, a personal trainer, reported feeling a calming sensation, and Cuozzo’s dining partner friend Karen relaxed after a cocktail, too, Cuozzo didn’t seem to experience the tincture’s supposed calming effects: “But my anxiety level doesn’t quit so easily,” he writes. “All I felt was the standard buzz I get from a killer cocktail — or a beer or two. At least I enjoyed the flavor: The tincture lent a gentle, peppermint lilt to everything it touched.”
Openings and coming attractions
A new East Village coffeeshop called 787 Coffee opened at 131 East Seventh St., near Avenue A. And nearby, signage has gone up for Mister Paradise, a new cocktail bar coming to 105 First Ave. from the Nomad alum Will Wyatt.
