For the Spring/Summer 2014 season, Larose Paris teamed up with Japanese brand White Mountaineering. The artisan French hat makers produced a 5-panel cap and straw hat as part of the collaboration. Both silhouettes come in two colors featuring a floral pattern, matching other pieces from the current White Mountaineering collection. The four hats are now in stock at colette.

Imagine a landscape swirling with millions of flower petals. Although this image may seem like something that would only happen in a dream, global advertising agency McCann commissioned photographer Nick Meek to bring that vision to life in a stunning campaign for Sony's new 4K TV, which promises the ultimate picture quality with four times the detail of full HD TV.
The campaign was shot in Costa Rica, where it took the creative team and the inhabitants of an entire village more than two weeks to pluck the petals of the brightest, most vibrant flowers around. In total, 8 million flower petals were collected, symbolizing the beautiful 8 million pixel display of the 4K TV. With the help of a special effects team, the flower petals were released onto the lush Costa Rican landscape, creating breathtaking visuals of flower petals sweeping through a small town, erupting from a volcano, covering the surface of a street as a skateboarder rolls past, and floating in a river.
The incredibly detailed vistas reflect the sharpness and clarity of the 4K TV, promising to envelop the viewer in an realism. Looking at the photographs and video of the surreal experience, it's not hard to imagine oneself in the middle of the rich Costa Rican landscape, watching clouds of flower petals swirl and dance in the wind.

Self-proclaimed aviation nerd Mike Kelley recently compiled the outdoor activity of the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) in a single, amazing photograph. The architectural photographer spent nearly an entire day at the south complex of the airport capturing all of the takeoffs and some landings, then spent another eight hours using Photoshop to put everything together. It was worth it. The bevy of airplanes makes for an impressive and dramatic image.
Kelley explains that he took some artistic liberties with the angles of the planes to compose an interesting photo, but that it's mostly how you’d see them appear if you were to watch for yourself. The size and depth difference between the airliners is due to LAX’s dual runways. In addition to domestic departures, Kelley made it a point to photograph the large international flights like Singapore, Air France, Malaysia, and Air New Zealand.
Below are a few detailed shots of Kelley’s handiwork. Even if you’re not a fan of flying, chances are you’ll still enjoy looking at each plane’s idiosyncrasies.

We caught up with Annie to ask her about her passion project, a food blog called Recipes Inspired. Why did she start it and how did Squarespace help her get it off the ground? If you've ever thought about creating your own food blog, or any other blog centered around a particular passion point of yours, this post is for you.
Can you please tell us about Recipes Inspired? Why did you start it?
Recipes Inspired is a food blog that chronicles my cooking adventures. I develop my own recipes and then share them with the rest of the world. As for my background, I am a registered dietitian. For years, I worked with a non-profit organization, counseling women and children on healthy eating habits. I’ve always loved food and, what I enjoy most about my profession, is that it has given me the background and knowledge on how different types of food can affect the body in different ways. Though I found my work very rewarding, I often felt like there was something missing because I am a creative person by nature. Recipes Inspired has been a great way for me to fill that void. It’s my creative outlet, allowing me to do two of my favorite things, cook and style food.
Why did you choose Squarespace?
I chose Squarespace for its simplicity. I wanted a platform that I could easily design on my own and that would result in a polished looking website. I fell in love with the bright and modern templates. Those are the two characteristics that I found were most important to me when making a website, especially one that heavily relies on photography to convey its message.
How easy was it to use?
It really couldn’t have been easier. To get started, all I had to do was watch the demo video. I am a novice when it comes to web development. But I am very particular and like having control over the look of my site. The drag and drop interface allowed me to create any layout I wanted simply by dragging and dropping blocks. Because it is so intuitive, I was able to get the site up and running in no time.
How long did the website take you to create from start to finish?
To get the site up and running was super fast. I already knew the layout I wanted and because you have so much freedom with the drag and drop interface I was able to quickly and easily set up the look I wanted.
How did you pick the layout of your Squarespace site?
I really wanted a two column layout. So I narrowed down my search by looking up the templates that would accommodate this, then I chose from there.
Have you had to use Squarespace's customer care service? If so, what was that like?
I used the forums pretty heavily during the development stage of the site and the response was always very fast and thorough. Because the process was so seamless and I haven't run into any issues that I couldn't resolve myself, I haven't had the need to contact their customer care.
What are some tips you could give to others thinking about starting up their own blog or Squarespace site?
If you’re considering using Squarespace to build your site all I have to say is do it! It really is super fast and the look that you get without ever having to use code is incredible. What worked for me was knowing the type of layout I wanted prior to development then choosing the template from there. Doing a quick search will help narrow down which templates would best fit your needs.
Where do you hope to take Recipes Inspired from here?
I hope to continue to develop new recipes and create a community for home cooks to share, learn and inspire each other. There are so many incredible cooks out there, and with the internet, it has become easier to learn tips and tricks from each other. My hope is that Recipes Inspired will become a meeting place where cooks come to inspire and find inspiration.

Just in case the recent line-up of Nike Roshe Run‘s did not scream enough summer yet for you, the Swoosh has got you covered. This week the brand presents its new “Sunset & Pam Trees” pack. French duo Lucie Thomas and Thibault Zimmermann of the graphic studio Zim & Zou are back with more spectacular paper sculptures that are cut and assembled entirely by hand. Their latest work, called Paper Rebirth, features a stunning phoenix sculpture made out of flame-colored scraps of paper. Delicately cut pieces of paper form rows of feathers that cover the body of the phoenix, giving the sculpture a marvelous sense of texture and three-dimensional shape. From the intricate chest plumage to the swooping tail feathers, the fiery sculpture is a masterpiece of craft and skill.
The project was created as a part of a campaign to encourage recycling in Paris. Thomas and Zimmermann decided to construct a phoenix out of recycled paper, saying, "The Phoenix was a perfect mythological animal to symbolize that paper can have up to 5 lives thanks to recycling."
Although the artists first met in art school when they both studied graphic design, now their favorite choice of medium is paper. According to the duo, their "choice of paper is due to the versatility and good quality of the material, especially when it is sculpted and photographed." Thomas and Zimmermann manage to produce exquisitely crafted artworks from the humble material, creating everything from colorful animals to delicate plants to 3D illustrations.

For this season’s “Visiva” series, SUPER presents the latest in a long list of collaborations with one of the world’s most creative artists and illustrators. Keiichi Tanaami is a Japanese experimental artist, known for his psychedelic imagery and highly iconic artworks. Tanaami has created covers for names such as Jefferson Airplane and The Monkees, as well as acted as art director for the Japanese edition of Playboy magazine. In sync with the topic of this year’s collection, Tanaami has created a series of four psychedelic graphics, applied to the internal part of six different SUPER silhouettes. For this special collaboration, the brand has also worked on a new series of iPhone 5/5s cases adorned with the artist’s vibrant graphics. The SUPER x Keiichi Tanaami collection will be available beginning April 15.

In 2013 Visit California asked pro skateboarder Bob Burnquist to dream big and try something completely new. After having skated on pretty much every surface imaginable, Burnquist decided that he wanted to build a floating skate ramp. American firm Joeb Moore & Partners have designed Bridge House around its ever-changing landscape in Kent, Connecticut. Situated along a ridge that runs parallel to the Housatonic River and Kent Falls State Park, the area sits on hard and soft bedrock layers that change with time. It gets its name from a series of wood bridges that the house sits on, giving the sense that it is floating above the landscape. Floor-to-ceiling glass panels allow for expansive views over the surrounding region, which changes from lush greenery to a snow-covered hillside depending on the season.
